How to Adjust an E-Z-Go Golf Cart Governor

If you have an E-Z Go Golf Cart and it is going too slow for you, you can adjust the governor on it to increase the speed on it. It is very simple procedure to do and only takes a few minutes to complete. You can only increase the speed on your golf cart by approximately 5 to 6 MPH.

  1. Park the E-Z Go Golf Cart and turn it completely off. Remove the key from the ignition and make sure it is in park and the brake is on. Lift up on the seat of the golf cart.

  2. Use a screwdriver to remove five screws from the cover at the back of the seat and then remove it completely.

  3. Look for a spring underneath the plastic cover that is connected to a throttle cable. This is what the governor looks like. You should see one small nut and one large nut on the spring.

  4. Use a screwdriver to loosen the small nut, and then make the larger nut tighter. Tightening the larger nut is what will make your go cart go faster.

  5. Test out your go-cart and see if it goes as fast as you want it to.

  6. Tighten the small night when you are happy with how fast your go-cart is going. Replace the black cover on the rear seat by screwing the five screws back in again using a screwdriver. Put the seat back down.

  7. Drive your go-cart and make sure you like the speed. If you are still not happy with the speed, you can go through this process again and tighten the large nut a little more.
