How to Alleviate Low Back Pain
Most people suffer from low back pain at some point or another. However, it is not difficult to alleviate low back pain. Simply put heat on your lower back, take a pain reliever, figure out what is causing your low back pain and get treatment for it.
- Put heat on your lower back. You can either use an electric heating pad or a heating pack you warm up in the microwave. If you think you may fall asleep, you should use the heating pack. Falling asleep with an electric heating pad on your back can cause burns.
- Take a pain reliever. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are an excellent choice for low back pain. They relieve both pain and inflammation. You might choose to take ibuprofen or naproxen. Keep in mind that the store brand pain reliever has the same active ingredient as the brand name pain reliever. If you want to save money, purchase the store brand pain reliever for the same results.
- Figure out what is causing your low back pain. Are you injuring yourself at work? Sitting in an uncomfortable chair all the time? Doing your workout incorrectly? Wearing improper shoes?
- Seek medical treatment. You may want to start by visiting your family doctor for recommendations. Make sure to give your doctor all of the details about the pain you have been experiencing. Your doctor may recommend stronger pain relievers, muscle relaxers or a visit to a specialist. If you need a referral, secure one before leaving your doctors office.
