How to Design Lawn Replacement

How to Apply Lawn Repair Mix

Lawn repair mix contains special types of soil and nutrients that can help grass grow thicker and faster. It can repair bare patches or areas where grass has a difficult time growing. Lawn repair mix can be purchased from your local garden supply or home improvement store.

  • Determine what areas of the lawn are in need of the repair mix. Lawn repair mix is designed to repair bare patches, dead areas and areas where it is difficult to grow grass. Check for signs of brown grass, places where soil is showing through the grass or areas where water runs off the yard.

  • Apply the lawn repair mix to grass in the spring or fall. Grass seeds typically germinate during these months, so the repair mix can help the grass grow from the start. If applying the lawn repair during other times of the year, apply a small amount in the spring and fall as well to help assist any new grass seeds that have germinated since the first application.

  • Avoid applying too much lawn repair mix to the grass. If the application is too thick, sunlight cannot reach the grass seeds, and they will not be able to germinate. Apply the lawn repair mix so that it is no more than half an inch thick.

  • Water the lawn regularly. Once the lawn repair mix has been applied, it should be watered twice a day until the grass begins to sprout. The lawn can then be watered every day. If the sprouts look dry, you can use a spray bottle or spray nozzle attached to a water hose to mist them. Over watering could flood the week roots and kill the grass.
