How to Book Travel by Cabs
Sometimes it can be difficult to find travel arrangements. You may have been dropped off at the airport for your flight, but you are now in a city where you know no one. Instead of walking 12 blocks to your hotel or trying to figure out the subway system, why not use a cab? Booking a cab can be done in several ways and is very easy to do.
- Visit the cab company’s website in which you are interested in using. Some companies will give you the option of booking online. You can select “now” or “later” (if later is selected you can enter a time and date) as to when you want the cab to pick you up and enter your pick-up and drop-off locations. Payment can then be made via cash or credit in the cab. Some companies offer the RideCharge payment option in which you pay with your phone so that the driver never sees your credit card.
- Send a text message to the cab number. Most of the time you can text your pick-up address to the cab company and you will receive a confirmation text within seconds. Just be aware that message and data rates apply.
- Download the Taxi Magic app onto your smart phone. This app allows you to find taxis near you, track where your driver is as well as provide you with their name and car number, and pay with your credit card.
- Call the cab company directly to make a reservation. Most cab companies have a dispatch service that will find a cab for you immediately.
- Hail a cab the old fashioned way. Move your arms, whistle, or look desperate to get a cab driver to notice you. Note that this will only work if you are in an area like New York City where cabs are common.
