A hidden storage space in your home is a great place to store items that you may want to keep private. This space is also ideal for small living spaces such as studio apartments. You can create a secret storage space in your home by following a few simple steps.
- Find a space in your home that would be ideal for a secret storage space. The best areas are under the staircase or in a closet that you won’t need to have others access.
- Build several shelves in the storage area in order to provide enough room for many items and to help keep the stored items in an organized fashion.
- Hang hooks and a clothing bar in the secret storage space if you’ll be using the secret storage space to hold clothing items.
- Cut a piece of material from thick ply wood in order to create a door for your secret storage space. Be sure to measure the material so it fits directly over the open area of the space.
- Place hinges on the inside of the wood so that they are hidden from the outside area of the wall.
- Attach a small ribbon securely to the inside of the door so that it can be pulled open without the need of a noticeable door handle.
- Cover the area, including the surrounding wall, with a wall paper of your choice. The wall paper will blend the secret storage space and make it unnoticeable to others who are in the area.
