There are many different types of playhouses. Gear your design towards the specific type of playhouse the child has. Dollhouses, children's playhouses and loft beds are all popular items to add a little magic and adventure to. Plan the fantasy bed safely.

  1. Determine what type of playhouse bed you wish to build. There are all sorts of children’s playhouses today. Some are miniature dollhouses and some fit the actual child. Many people are choosing to turn their children’s beds into playhouses as well.

  2. Utilize items that may be on hand for miniature dollhouse playhouses. These beds can be made from cardboard, scraps of wood, cans and boxes. With a little imagination, some hot glue and fabric scraps, you will have a small bed in no time. There are many craft patterns for specific types of beds such as canopies. Make sure these beds fit the doll that is to be used.

  3. Create a playhouse bed by building a platform out of plywood boards. There are many designs that are more elaborate. Add some padding to the top and cover with a material that is suited to where the playhouse is located. If this is an outdoor playhouse, use weatherproof materials.

  4. Design a loft bed playhouse after deciding on a theme for the play area. This can be done very simply by adding some materials to a bunk bed frame.

  5. Consider building a custom made design for a loft bed. There are many patterns and plans that can be accessed on the Internet or in craft books. An ordinary bed can be transformed into a palace, pirate’s ship, zoo menagerie or a creative area for playing and storing toys and treasures.

  6. Make sure that all playhouse beds are safe for children to use. Create a world where fantasy reigns.
