- Search online for websites that do government auctions. Make sure to choose a trusted site to purchase Army goods from. It is a good idea to look for .gov sites. Many of these sites will allow you to sign up for newsletters to be notified when new shipments arrive.
- Talk to others who purchase army equipment to see what surplus store they buy from. They may be able to give you a good recommendation or let you know when the store receives new supplies.
- Find your phone book and look in the yellow pages for stores that sell army equipment. The phone book will provide you with phone numbers and addresses of the stores. You can use this contact info to call them and ask them what they have available before venturing to the store. Also ask about days and hours of operation as well as when new shipments arrive, if you’d like.
- Visit a town where an army base is located. These towns usually have a number of army surplus stores and thrift shops full of army equipment to purchase. Pawn shops located around bases are known to carry lots of military items as well. Shop around at all of those area locations to find the best deals and selection.
