How to Buy Cars Online

A person who wants to buy a car can often save some money by purchasng the vehicle online. Determining the value of the vehicle is critical in order for the buyer to purchase the car for a good price. Once the seller agrees to the buyer’s price, arranging for delivery is the final step in the process.

  1. Decide whether to buy a new or used car online. To buy a new car, use a search engine to find a website that offers new car price quotes. If you decide to buy a new car, by law the actual transaction must take place at a new car dealer’s office.

  2. To buy a used car online you should first determine the value of the vehicle. Go to a search engine and type “used car pricing guide” in the search field. You will see several websites that list used car prices. Pick one and find the car you want to buy. Print the pricing report and base your offer on one of the values.

  3. Offer the lowest amount on the pricing report to begin negotiations with the seller. Most online pricing reports have three values, each depending on the condition of the car. A seller will likely want an amount that is close to the highest price on the report. Negotiate until you arrive at a price that you determine is fair for the vehicle.

  4. Ask the seller to provide an inspection report on the car before you finalize the purchase. Review the report to make sure there are no repairs that you will need to make. If the report is not from a qualified mechanic, have the seller get another report or pass on the deal.

  5. Arrange to take delivery of the car once the seller provides you with a proper inspection report. If you do not live near the seller, contact a car transportation company to deliver the car. During your price negotiations, you can ask that seller pay for the cost of delivering the vehicle.
