How to Bypass House Alarms

House alarms have the capability to bypass specific zones. Bypassing is useful if you suspect trouble in a certain area of your house. It can be better for you to bypass zones rather than turn off the whole alarm. You can use the bypass feature to freely roam your house while still protecting specific areas of your home.

  1. Disable your home alarm. Go to your "User Settings" or a similar menu. It depends on what type of house alarm you have, but there should be a button that says "Menu" or "Settings."

  2. Enter the master code for your alarm. You must enter the master code to enter into the alarm's programming system. Press the button that says, "Next" to enter the "Bypass" menu.

  3. Press "Enter" or "OK" when your house alarm displays the Bypass feature on the display screen.

  4. Select the zone of your house you wish to bypass. Your alarm should have generic descriptions for zones of your house to make bypassing these zones easy. If you want to bypass the back door, just select "Bypass Back Door." If your house alarm does not have text descriptions, you must enter a zone number in order to bypass that zone.

  5. Press "Enter" or "OK" once you are finished, and then exit the bypassing feature. Press the "Next" button to get out of the menu.

  6. Set your house alarm as you regularly do. The zone you wanted to bypass should be working, which means you can roam them freely. Never leave from your front door because it sets of the alarm. You must disable your alarm system or bypass your front door.
