How to Care for your Hair Extensions
Hair extensions are not only popular with women, but men are also now wearing them. There are several reasons why they have quickly gained in popularity with the main one being flexibility to easily change the color or style of your hair. If the extensions are properly taken care of no one will ever know that it is not your natural hair.
How to Care for your Hair Extensions
- Always brush the hair gently starting at the ends and working your way toward the scalp.
- Use a gentle moisturizing shampoo and conditioner for dry color-treated hair.
- Avoid using volumizing shampoo because it raises the cuticle of the hair and can cause the hair to become tangled.
- Do not apply any type of conditioner to the scalp or bonds of the hair because it can weaken the bonds.
- Always wash the hair in cool to lukewarm water. Using water that is too hot will loosen the bond glue.
- Always dry the hair with a towel before blow drying.
- Do not wash your hair more than three times a week unless you have extremely oily hair. Over washing the hair will dry it out.
- Brush the hair two to three times per day. It will keep tangles from forming at the base of the extensions.
- Always blow dry the hair going downward and not against the flow of the hair.
- Always braid long extensions before going to bed.
