How to Change Lawn Tractor Mowing Blades
Some people think of a lawn tractor as a necessity that they could not live without. There are several different brands and sizes available. Some of the models can cost several thousand dollars, which is one of the reasons why they are considered to be investments. Proper maintenance is important to protect the value of the tractor.
How to Change a Lawn Tractor Mower Blade
- Park the mower on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.
- Turn "off" the tractor and allow the engine to cool down.
- Place a cement block in the front and in the back of the tires to prevent the tractor from rolling.
- Put on some gloves to prevent your hands from being cut when changing the mower blade.
- Reach underneath the tractor and use a ratchet wrench to loosen the bolt holding the blade in place. This should be done by holding the blade with your hand and turning the bolt with the ratchet counterclockwise.
- Remove the old blade and set it out of your way.
- Put on the new blade and make sure that the side with the long edge is facing upward.
- Replace the bolt and tighten with the ratchet by turning it in a clockwise motion.
