How to Change the Default Apple Store Email for the iPhone

Many people own iPhones and iPod Touches now, but they can be expensive to buy new. If you have decided to purchase your device second-hand, it my have someone else's iTunes account saved to it, assuming the seller did not do a full restore before selling it. It's always preferred to have your own account, not just for personalization, but also for security.

  1. Launch the App Store by selecting the icon on your device

  2. Tap "Featured" and scroll to the very bottom of the list - you will see what iTunes account is currently logged in.

  3. Tap on the e-mail address, and you will be given the options "view account" and "sign out". You'll want to select "sign out"

  4. When you have successfully signed out, the button will change to say, "sign in".

  5. Select "sign in". You will see the options "Use existing account" and "create new account". If you already have an e-mail address associated with an iTunes account, select "Use Existing Account". If you want to use a new e-mail address (it must be one that is not already associated with an account), then select "Create New Account"

  6. If you are using an existing account, go ahead and enter your e-mail and password. You will be signed in and that will be the account saved on your device unless you sign out again.

  7. If you have chosen to create a new account, you will have to follow the steps to create an account, and then you will be able to sign in with it. Just as with using an existing account, the account you have signed in with will remain the active account on the device until you sign it out.
