How to Get a Student Discount at the Apple Store
Apple offers generous student discounts for students enrolled in high school or college. Redeeming the discount is simple. You need to have a student ID and a valid government-issued ID to take advantage of this in the store. Online purchases are also eligible, but require a slightly different method.
Using a student discount is a great way to get the newest products from Apple for a cheaper price. The discount can be used both in the physical Apple store locations and through the online store. Not all products will be eligible for the discount.
- Visit your local Apple store. Browse the products and choose the item or accessories that you want. When you check out, let the Apple store employee know that you want to take advantage of the student discount. You’ll be asked to present both your student ID and government-issued ID. The discount will be taken off at the register.
- Go online and browse the products available through the Apple online store if there isn’t a local brick and mortar Apple store near you. You can still use a student discount for your Apple purchases providing you have a valid email address issued by the school. The email address will need to have the .edu extension in order for you to qualify. If you don’t already have an email address with a .edu extension, you’ll need to speak to someone at your school to get this set up. If you’re a high school student you may not be able to use this method. Some high schools do have email addresses for their students, but not all of them will have this option.
- Note that not all products are eligible for purchase with the student discount. Some accessories will need to be purchased without the discount. From time to time, new releases that are on backorder will be excluded from the discount program as well. If you’re wondering what isn’t eligible you can just call AppleCare to get more information.
