How to Charge a TV With an AAA Battery

Knowing how to power your television in case of unexpected power outage is a handy trick. It requires very little tools and materials. This way, you can get important information that would be helpful in an extreme case, such as severe storms.

  1. Remove two prongs from an audio cable using pliers. Prongs are the needle-like things that stick out from the cable. You want a cable that has four prongs in all, a red and white on both ends of the cable. Remove two prongs that are on the same end. Break off the prongs by pulling them to the side.

  2. Spread the metal casing that was around the prongs outward. You want to make it wide enough for an AAA battery to fit in it. Do this for both the red and white casings.

  3. Place a battery in the metal casing. Enclose the battery by pushing the metal casing up. Then, place the other casing on the other end of the battery. Using duct tape, wrap the tape around the battery and the cables to keep the battery in place. It is best to tape them as tight as you can make it. This ensures that the battery is making contact with the cables.

  4. Insert the two unmodified prongs on the opposite side of the cable into the plug of the TV. They should fit in small holes on the plug. This will provide a supply of power to your TV for a little while.
