Checking the Internet speed on your computer is something you can easily do yourself in a matter of minutes by following a few simple steps.
- Open the web browser on the desktop of your computer by clicking on the Internet Explorer icon.
- Type in this URL, "www.speakeasy.net/speedtest" in the address box of the browser. This is a great website to use because there is no cost and it does not require you to install or download anything on your computer. There are several other sites online that offer the service, but some of them may require you pay a fee to download the software.
- Select a server from the list that is provided to you on the screen. Once the server is selected the testing process will automatically start.
- Wait for the testing to be completed. When the testing process is done the results will pop up on the screen of your computer. It will be in the form of a graph located at the bottom of the screen.
- Run the test a second time to make sure your first test is accurate. This is highly recommended because it will give you a more accurate reading of the actual speed of your Internet.
