How to Disable Internet Options in Group Policy
Group Policy is a program that allows computer administrators to enable, disable and edit certain configurations and computer options. This is convenient if you need to control or configure more than one computer at a time. To control these configurations, you need to open the "Local Group Policy Editor."
- Click the "Start" button in your desktop toolbar. This is the blue bar located on the bottom of the computer screen.
- Click on the "Search" button, and type "gpedit.msc" into the search box. Click the "Yes" button. The "Local Group Policy Editor" window will open.
- Locate the Local Group Policy Editor menu bar at the top of the window. Click on the "User Configuration" tab to expand it and show more options. Click on "Administrative Templates." Click "Windows Components" and "Internet Explorer."
- Right click "Internet Options" and click "Properties." This opens the properties window for the LGP Editor. From here, you can control the settings and enable and disable any programs or drivers associated with the LGP Editor.
- Click on "Settings" and choose "Disabled" from the options menu. This brings up a list of settings that can be disabled.
- Click on each setting that you want to disable and choose "Properties" from the dropdown menu. Click on "Settings" and "Disable." Repeat this step to disable the programs you do not want running on your computer.
- Click on the "X" or "Close" button to exit the "Local Group Policy Editor" window. You can enable Internet Options at any time by going back into the LGP Editor settings and clicking on the "Enable" button beside Internet Explorer.
