How to Check in at the Airport

Flying can be a wonderful experience, whether it's your first time or regularly. Getting to your flight can sometimes be the difficult part. There are procedures you must go through before taking flight. You must plan to arrive a couple hours in an advance to complete this procedure.

Airport measures have tightened up since September 11, 2001. They now have large-scale checks and examinations before reaching the boarding area. Prepare yourself in advance to reduce the potential holdups as you attempt to catch your flight on time, and you should get to the boarding area without much delay. You can't prevent delays entirely, but you can reduce them by following these regulations.

Step 1:Please allow up to two or three hours to get through check in at the airport. If you're departing internationally be sure to have the following three statements in hand, your landing card, medical card and traveler's personal effects statement. Make sure that you have any customs forms filled out in advance and stored. If your departing locally make sure you have your travel itinerary, tickets, passport, identification and visa all in one place. In addition, request to pick up of your boarding pass at the airport at a check-in desk or self-service machine. To save time, print out your boarding pass at home before you head to the airport.

Step 2: Be sure to verify with airport security before arriving at the airport for the list of items that you can't have in your carry-on bag. A lot of holdups at the airport security examinations are for items not permitted on the airplane. Leave any products or cosmetics that are flammable in your checked bag or purchase it when you arrive at your destination.

Step 3: Wear light garments that you can swiftly remove if necessary like slide-on shoes. If you have on a belt or apparel that has a lot of metal, be sure to take it off before you go through the scanner because this will trigger it as you pass through the security check point. Once check-in is accomplished you can proceed to your gate. At the gate there's going to be a lot of seats, you can wait there until the flight attendants call your flight.
