How to Choose Paint Color for a Bathroom

If you have decided to update your bathroom with new cabinetry and a vanity, you will no doubt want paint the walls as well. Many people do not spend enough time thinking about the paint color in the bathroom and often just slap on a coat of off-white paint. Your bathroom is the most visited room, therefore, the paint color is important.

  1. Before looking at various colors
of paint for your bathroom, you need to find the right type of paint
for this room. Remember, many people take showers in your bathroom,
which means steam gets on the walls, which can turn into mold over
time. Therefore, always go with a paint that is designed to prevent
mold from growing. The best is a high-gloss or semi-gloss finish.

  2. Look around your bathroom at the
current decor, cabinets, and floors. While white is a safe color,
choosing a deeper color will make the room appear modern and truly
enhance the entire bathroom. If you have a large bathroom with
several walls, you may want to use one bold color on one wall such
as yellow or red and then softer colors on the other walls. Both
bright yellow and red is energizing and stimulating. Obviously, when
you are getting ready for work in the mornings, you need all the
    energy you can get!

  3. Choose soothing colors if the
bathroom you are painting is only used for bath-time and not used as
a “get ready for work” room. Shades of blue are always soothing
and can create the perfect oasis for taking a hot bath at the end of
    a long day.
