How to Choose Window Coverings for Tall Windows

The look of tall windows in a home or condo look very stylish and often modern, but when it comes to finding window coverings, it can pose a challenge. One of the reasons it is difficult to find window coverings is because these types of window treatments are not readily available at retail locations. However, there are ways to find the right treatments for your windows.

  1. Select custom-made drapes. If
drapes are what you wish to cover your tall windows with, you will
not find extra-tall options at a curtain store, since most of these
are made no longer than 84 inches. You may be able to find some
drapes that are as long as 108 inches, but having them custom-made
will ensure the proper fit and length.

  2. Choose window blinds. As with
drapes, you will often not find these easily for tall windows at a
retail outlet. Therefore, you may need to hire someone to take the
exact measurements of your windows to ensure the right fit. It is
more expensive to hire someone, but if the blinds you purchase on
your own are too short, you will have wasted the money you spent
buying them at a retail store.

  3. Get options that help with privacy
issues. One of the problems with tall windows that many people find
soon after moving in is the issue of privacy. Therefore, you can
purchase window films in different shades such as light brown or
light gray. This helps to give the room instant privacy and some are
made so that you can see out but no one can see in, which makes it a
perfect choice if you do not want any window treatments, which in a
    high-rise is often a choice.
