How to Choose a Tuxedo for Your Body Style

A tuxedo can make anyone look fantastic. However, if the tux you choose is not right for your body type, it may prevent you from looking sharp. If you are wearing a tuxedo, it probably means you are going to an important event and therefore, need to look your best. You should realize that your body type needs to be taken into account when you buy a tuxedo.

  1. Take
into account your body shape before you head to the store. If you are
of average height and weight, you can probably get away with wearing almost any kind. On the other hand, if you are very tall and on
the thinner side, consider a double-breasted jacket since that will
make you look a bit bigger. However, the double-breasted jacket is
also good to wear if you need to hide a thicker waistline.

  2. Choose
a single-breasted jacket that has the shawl collar if your frame is
stocky in the waist and the shoulders. If you are of shorter stature
you will want to select a jacket with a single button. Taller, average men need to have two buttons. Padded shoulder can
also help if you happen to have narrow shoulders, but if you have
broad shoulder then you should avoid any extra padding.

  3. Make
the trip to the store now that you have an idea of what you
need for your body type. Keep in mind that this is not a quick in
and out type of shopping. You will need to devote about two hours to
select and then place the order for the tux. You will need to be
measured at this time as well, but you need to try on a couple of
the tuxedos and take someone with you to get a second opinion.

  4. Have
the tuxedo tailored, especially if the event is
extremely important. Having it tailored to your body type will make
you look and feel handsome and confident when you walk in. Don't
forget to take your time choosing the tie, shirt and your socks and
shoes. These all play a part in how charming you will look in your tux.
