How to Choose the Right Clubs for Your Golf Games
Most amateur golfers have a standard set of clubs, which consists of a putter, three woods and 10 irons. This arrangement may not work for everyone. Choosing the right clubs is important for improving a golfer’s game. Not having the right ones will lead to not getting the desired results.
- Understand the different scenarios for hitting a golf ball. You will need different skills when playing golf. A shot may need accuracy and distance. Sometimes, you will hit off a patch of grass, tee or sand patch. A different club is needed for each one of these situations.
- Choose a good putter. The putt is the most common shot in golf. The average golfer uses the putter twice as much as any other club. This means the putter is very important to the game.
- Select a driver. The driver is the second most important club and used about 20 percent of the time when on the course. A good driver will make other shots much easier.
- Find a wedge for hitting on the green. Many amateur players may have a hard time hitting on the green and can spend 14 to 20 strokes trying to get the shot down. A quality wedge is required for hitting situations that involve hitting off the grass.
- Use the rest of the clubs for other challenges. Golfers experience many situations and hitting scenarios that call for different clubs. It is possible that they will not be used very often. However, the wedges, driver and putter are used the most and very important to a player.
