How to Clean Mold From Furniture
Furniture can accumulate mold if it is left in a garage or storage room. It can also accumulate in homes that mold that builds up because it is in constant contact with humid or moist rooms. Summer is the time that most furniture accumulate mold. There is no need to replace the furniture. You can clean it yourself and salvage the furniture.
How to Clean Mold From Furniture
Materials Needed
- Drop cloth
- Mask
- Plastic gloves
- Pine Sol
- Woolite
- Clean cloth
- Hot water
- Bleach
- Large bucket

1. Take the furniture outside to be cleaned. This is the best place to clean it because it has better ventilation than the room with the mold. Make sure a drop cloth is underneath the furniture.
2. Put a mask on so you will not inhale the mold spores. Put on plastic gloves to protect your skin from the chemicals and mold.
3. Use Pine Sol for furniture with the wood parts. Use Woolite for the upholstery.
4. Apply the cleaner on the furniture parts. Use a clean cloth to work the cleaner into the furniture.
5. Wet another clean cloth with hot water and wring it out. Go over the furniture to remove the cleaner. Continue to wet and wring the cloth until all traces of the cleaner is removed.
6. Allow the furniture to sit in the sun for several hours to dry. Not only will the sun dry the furniture but it will also aid in clearing up the mold.
7. Mix 1 cup bleach and 1 gallon hot water in a large bucket. Use a white rag to wash the furniture. The bleach will kill any signs of mold. Make sure you do a test spot before applying the bleach solution. When you apply the bleach for a test spot, allow it to sit for five minutes to see if it changes color. If it changes color, contact a professional to clean it for you.
8. Allow the sun to dry the furniture for several hours. Use Pledge to polish any wood parts on the furniture.
