How to Clean Used Rags for Commercial Cleaning
Materials Needed
- Borax
- Laundry detergent
- Fabric softener sheets
- Set the washing machine to the hottest temperature available. Turn on the washing machine and allow it to fill ¼ full with water. Turn off the washer. Add 1 cup of borax to the washer tub. Follow the borax with 1 cup of laundry detergent.
- Turn on the washing machine and let it fill up. The borax added to the washer machine is what will disinfect the rag while the detergent will remove soil and dirt.
- Allow the washing machine to mix the detergent and borax before adding the rags. It should take about one minute.
- Add the rag to the washing machine and allow them to soak for one hour. This will help loosen any soil and oil that is deep within the fibers of the rags.
- Turn on the washer and allow the cycle to complete after they have soaked for one hour.
- Place a few fabric softener sheets in the dryer and add the rags on top of the fabric softener sheets.
- Turn the dry to the highest heat setting on the dryer. Allow the rag to thoroughly dry. Remove them and fold them.
