How to Clean Your Gutter Leaf Guard
Leaf guards protect the gutters by keeping debris, leaves and twigs from clogging them. They do a great job of protecting the gutters by cutting down on debris but the gutters still need cleaning twice a year to keep them working properly. The leaf guards should be cleaned when the gutters are cleaned.
How to Clean Your Gutter Leaf Guard
1. Prop your ladder against the roof. Make sure it is sturdy enough to climb.
2. If you find clips on the leaf guards, you can remove them by hand. Screws can be removed with a screwdriver. Some leaf guards have rivets that can be removed with a drill.
3. Once all of the leaf guards are removed, spread them out over the driveway.
4. Spray the leaf guards with a garden hose using low pressure so they will not be damaged.
5. Use a scrub brush to remove any encrusted dirt from the leaf guards.
6. Spray the leaf guards a second time and allow them to dry for one hour.
7. Reattach the leaf guards to the gutters.
