How to Clean a Laundry Machine
Even with all the soap and cleaner that circulates through laundry machine, it can still become stained and dirty. A dirty laundry machine cannot get your clothing clean, no matter how much detergent is used. Vinegar is a cheap and effective way to clean your laundry machine.
- Remove all laundry from the machine. The laundry machine should be completely empty when you attempt to clean it.
- Inspect both the inside and outside of the machine for stains or dirt. Check places where detergent is poured in, as spills may leave behind stains.
- Spray the dirt or stain with an all purpose cleaner. Allow the cleaner to set and work its way into the stain. Use a cloth to wipe the cleaner and dirt or stain.
- Allow the washer to fill with water as if you are washing a load of laundry. Add 2 gallons of white vinegar to the washer and allow it to agitate the mixture. This will help dissolve and remove any stuck on dirt or stains. Stop the laundry machine half way through the wash cycle.
- Let the water and vinegar set in the washer overnight. This will give it more time to work and better remove dirt and stains. Turn the washer on in the morning and let it run through the rest of the cycle. When the mixture drains, the vinegar will also help remove soap that may be trapped in the drain.
- Use a cloth to wipe the laundry machine and allow it to air dry before using it to wash laundry.
