How to Clean an LCD Television Screen
Like with all television screens, greasy smudges, fingerprints, dust particles and dirt can accumulate on the LCD television screen. This can hamper viewing and ruin the TV's appearance. It is important to clean the TV screen using the right products and materials.
Materials
- Distilled water
- Isopropyl alcohol
- Spray bottle
- Two soft cloths
Method
- Turn off the television and wait until it is completely cool. Unplug it from the main source of power.
- Wipe off the screen using a dry soft cloth. Use light pressure and make sure you get rid of all the loose dirt and dust.
- Mix half a cup of distilled water with half a cup of isopropyl alcohol. Put the solution into a clean spray bottle and shake thoroughly. Avoid products containing ammonia or regular window cleaners.
- Dampen a new soft cloth with the solution and use it to wipe the screen. Make sure you do not get too much solution on the cloth. It should be damp not wet. Do not spray the solution directly onto the screen as this can cause damage.
- Remove all the remaining traces of smudges on the screen by using light pressure in horizontal or vertical motions. This will help to prevent streaking.
- Use different portions of the cloth for different sections to avoid transferring particles.
- Wipe the screen using the dry soft towel. Make sure the towel does not have any particles that can scratch the screen. You should never use paper towels to wipe the TV screen.
- Wait until the TV is completely dry before you turn it back on.
