How to Fix an LCD Television With Dead Pixels
LCD TV’s offer high quality picture resolution and a better viewing experience than ever before. This can be hampered by the small spots that arrear on the screen. These spots are called dead pixels. They are points on your screen that usually remain the same color no matter what the color is supposed to be.
Materials
- Pencil or stylus
- USB flash drive
Methods
- Turn on the Television and pause it to display a dark image. A black image serves best to highlight the problem areas. The background will help when fixing the pixel.
- Inspect the TV and locate the dead pixel. It will be easy to identify, as the color is different from the rest of the black background on the screen.
- Tap the dead pixel using the round end of the pencil or stylus. Use gentle taps to avoid damaging the screen. Use enough pressure until you notice a white flash or glow at the point of contact.
- Increase the pressure as you tap and do this repeatedly until the spot disappears. You will have moved the pixel back into the right position, thus getting rid or the problem.
- Get out of the pause mode and flick on to different backgrounds. Test to see if the dead pixel has been eliminated.
- Update your TV firmware if the dead pixel problem persists. To do this you need to visit the manufacturer’s website and get the necessary information. Download the firmware you need for your TV onto a flash drive.
- Plug the flash drive into the TV and turn it on. The TV will automatically detect the updates and begin to install them. When the process is complete, remove the drive and turn the TV back on. The dead pixel should be gone.
