How to Color Black Hair Extensions
Hair extensions are a great way to add length, volume and a whole new style to your hair. Change up your look by using real human hair extensions. These extensions can be styled nearly any way that you would typically style your own hair. Because the color choices of hair extensions are limited, you may choose to dye yours. Even change the color of black hair extensions by following this simple process.
Things You'll Need:
- Bleach kit
- Hair dye
- Gloves
- Comb
- Mixing bowl or developer applicator bottle
- Conditioner
- Start by bleaching your black hair extensions with the bleach kit that you have purchased. Lay the extensions flat and using a wide-tooth comb, separate them into several different sections. Do a strand test to see how much time will be needed to get your black extensions to the desired color. Depending on the color that you are dyeing your black extensions, you may want to bleach them until they are blonde.
- Put on a pair of gloves and massage the bleach into the extensions. Be sure to evenly distribute the bleach without missing any spots.
- Wash the bleach out from the extensions after your desired color is reached. After bleaching, the hair may appear more brittle and weak. Wash with conditioner to give strength back to your locks and dry them on a cool setting.
- Lay out your hair extensions again to prepare them for the hair dye.
- Mix your hair dye in a mixing bowl or with the developer applicator bottle that was provided to you in your dye kit.
- Apply hair dye all over to extensions and allow to set for around 30 minutes or as instructed by directions.
- Rinse the extensions with warm water and apply conditioner. Your black hair extensions now have a brand new color.
