How to Compare Battery Storage Systems
Battery operated items often require instant and short bursts of power. When using a camera or even a starting a car, you need high and immediate current output from the battery. Energy is drained from the battery every time the power is used. The quantity of energy used is calculated by the amount of power multiplied by the time power flows. Different batteries have different power output.
- Ensure your car works the way it is supposed to by choosing the right battery. Consider factors such as design, power, size and maintenance before you buy the system.
- Read the manufacturers information contained in the manual. Batteries are grouped according to their size. The battery size as well as the position of the terminals will determine the power output.
- Find out the reserve capacity for each system. This will tell you how long you can expect your system to last. You need one with high reserve capacity.
- Find out the warranty available for each system. The information is often included in the purchase contract. The manufacturer’s website also has information about the warranty.
- Compare costs, this should include cost of installation. In many cases cheap can turn out to be expensive. You need to weigh the quality you are getting against what you are paying for it.
- Find out how the battery is rated or described. It may be described as low maintenance or maintenance free. Maintenance free means the system is completely sealed and therefore protected from dirt and other elements. Low maintenance systems are not sealed. They are however easy to maintain.
- Select a battery that is able to meet the power demands by supplying the required voltage and current as needed.
- Choose a battery that can be easily replaced or one that is easy to recharge.
