How to Compare Mini Tillers

Mini tillers are the perfect devices to bust up the soil in a small area. Many people begin their gardens by tilling the area so that it is easier to plant vegetables. There are many different brands and models of mini tillers available on the market. Selecting the right one for you depends on a few considerations.

  1. Check to see if the mini tillers you are considering are electric or gas powered. Decide which form of power would be better for your situation. Electric mini tillers are easy to start and run clean. They generally run on battery or with a cord. Gas powered tillers offer more power but they are also louder and do not run as clean as electric models.

  2. Consider the pricing of each tiller. Figure into the consideration the price of upkeep, such as replacing the battery, the amount of electricity used or the amount of gas needed.

  3. Look at the wheels of each mini tiller. The wheels need to be very sturdy so that the device does not become damaged after a few uses. Choose a mini tiller that moves easily on its wheels or you may have to struggle when using it. Larger wheels are better if you plan to cover large areas of land with the tiller.

  4. Decide if you want a mini tiller with a lift handle. This makes it much easier for transporting. Think about the size of the area you have to till. It is not too large or far away from your shed, you may not require the assistance of a lift handle.
