How to Compare the Cost of Landscaping

Before choosing a landscaping company right away, consider looking into multiple options. The first company you call may not offer the best price on the job you want completed.  There are a number of landscaping options out there. Simply use some research methods to find the one that is most economical.

• Decide exactly what you’d like in your yard and garden before hiring anyone for the job. See how much each item you want costs and add up the total price. A landscaping company’s price should include the price for all of the materials plus a fee for the labor. Figuring out the cost of the materials should give you an idea of what a reasonable price for landscaping is.


• Look up landscaping companies in your area in the yellow pages of the phone book. Tell them about the materials you’d like in your yard or garden and have them provide a quote. Choose the company that provides the best combination of price and service. Understand that sometimes you get what you pay for. It’s not always the best idea to go with the cheapest service because they probably use cheaper products that do not last as long. Buying cheap may end up costing more in the end.


• See if there are any landscaping companies that will allow you to pay monthly installments. Being able to break the costs down makes the expenses much easier to handle than paying up front.


• Ask the landscaping company to give you an itemized price sheet to see how much you’ll be paying for each item. This is a great way to find out if there is an area where the landscaping company is overcharging. See if there are less expensive alternatives if you see a price you do not like on the list.
