How to Create Business Flyers With Tear-Off Tabs
Marketing your business services with flyers is a traditional method of gaining customers and business exposure. A basic flyer can attract attention to potential business customers, but without a tangible record of your business information, your message can be quickly forgotten. Posting a business flyer with tear-off tabs allows customers to take your business information with them and reference it later. Create an effective business flyer using a computer, template and printer.
- Use the Internet to navigate to the Microsoft Office website. Microsoft offers free downloadable business flyer templates. A wide variety of designs and themes can be selected from their vast template library and downloaded into Microsoft Publisher for customization.
- Search the site by typing the words “tear-off tabs” into the search box located at the top of the page. Scroll through the different options available. Choose a design that represents your business. Some templates offer color and graphic themes suitable for different businesses.
- Select a template designed for Microsoft Publisher. Click the download button to save the template file to your computer. Follow the screen prompts to download and save the flyer on your desktop.
- Double-click the saved template to open the file in Microsoft Publisher. Use your business information to fill in the placeholder text. The template consists of the body and up to eight tabs along one side of the flyer. Extra text and graphic placeholders can be deleted later.
- Type your announcement or highlight your business services in the body of the flyer. Include the business name and contact information in this area in case all the tear-tabs are pulled off before you replace the flyer. Add the business name and contact information in one of the tabs. The tabs are linked and fill in automatically.
- Replace graphics if you desire. Use the company logo or clipart images that represent your business. Click on the image placeholder to highlight the area. Use the “Insert” menu and click “Picture” to place your own image in the placeholder. Delete extra placeholders by highlighting the placeholder and pressing “Delete” on your keyboard.
- Preview the changes you made to the flyer. Look for spelling and typing errors in the text. Ensure the business information is correct. Make changes and save the flyer template.
- Print the business flyer using your printer. Cut along each line separating the tabs, leaving only the top of the tab attached to the flyer. Post the flyers on community bulletin boards. Replace the flyer when all tabs are torn off.
