How to Create Print Flyers With Rip Off Tabs

Knowing how to create flyers comes in handy when you want to advertise items you need to sell. Flyers are great for yard sales and advertising services or events. If you have a basic understanding of word processing, you can create your flyer and include rip off tabs that increase your chances of connecting with interested persons, making your flyer a success.

  1. Navigate to Microsoft Office Word or OpenOffice Writer. Name and save your document.

  2. Enter the pertinent information at the top and in the body of your flyer. If it is relevant, add a photo.

  3. Describe your item or event in all relevant details. Gain the interest of passersby with bold fonts and descriptive, exciting words.

  4. Get an overall look at your flyer. Proofread it so you don't miss anything. Leave about two inches of space for the rip off tabs.

  5. Add the table that you will use to create the rip off tabs by clicking on "Insert," then "Table." In the drop-down menu, hover over the top left block, which highlights it, and continue to hover while sliding your mouse to the right. This highlights all the blocks across the top. Click. Remember that the more blocks you use, the narrower the tabs will be

  6. Hover the mouse over the bottom line of the inserted blocks. Click and drag the bottom line down when you see an arrow pointing up and an arrow pointing down. Stop when the tabs are about two inches long. Now you have the outline for your tabs

  7. Click in each tab, right click and select "Text Direction."  Click on the preferred orientation, then "OK." Type the needed information into the first tab. Use a larger font size, such as 16. Highlight all the text, right-click and copy and paste it into all the tabs. Now the text is entered and placed vertically.

  8. Cut the tabs at the line and a quarter inch in at the tops for easier removal.
