How to Customize Your Halloween Costumes
Halloween costumes are easy to purchase each October. The problem with buying a costume from a store is that it is not unique. In fact, it is possible that thousands of people have the same costume that you do. You can change this by customizing your costume.
- Add accessories to your costume. The costumes that you purchased from the store most likely included just the clothing. Find out if there are any accessories available from the costume. Most likely, the store that you purchased the costume from will have other items to complete the look. If you are dressed as a pirate, consider picking up an eye patch, hook and fake parrot to complete the look.
- Think about headwear and footwear. What you put on your head and feet can help round out a good looking costume. Consider hats, scarves or wigs for your head. You can also find all types of interesting footwear to round out the look.
- Use makeup or costume paint to help customize your look. A pirate should have a few scars on the face and should look dirty. You can use makeup and paint to transform the look of an entire outfit. You can even use makeup that you already have in your home.
- Decorate the costume that you purchased. Even the costume itself can be customized. You may want to sew, hot glue or cut on the costume. Make sure when you do this, however, you take great care; if you ruin the costume you will have to purchase another.
