How to Customize Your Own Cheerleading Uniforms
Cheerleaders are the most positive part of sports. They manage to keep the players, as well as the fans, spirits high even during the low points of a game. It is important for the cheerleaders to not only act upbeat and positive but to look the part as well. Learning how to customize a cheerleading uniform is important to maintaining that positive appearance.
- Take the basic cheerleading uniform that is already selected, if there is one, and add embellishments to it. There is no better way to add custom features to a uniform then to make the uniform unique with rhinestones or fabric glue, or ribbons. By outlining the team name with rhinestones a certain amount of individuality is added to the uniform and still allows the uniform to remain mostly the same.
- Design a skirt and top if there is not already a basic cheerleading uniform being used. Choosing the colors for the skirt and top should be simple as they should be that of the team the cheerleader is cheering for. The top and skirt should be opposite colors. Most schools have two or three colors so incorporating all of the colors into the uniform is important.
- Iron or sew on the school name and mascot to the front and back of the top. This is an important way to announce who the cheerleader is cheering for. Add rhinestones or ribbons to those embellishments. It is also important to think beyond just the uniform and to customize the accessories as well, including shoes, socks, and hair ties.
- Add rhinestones to the end of ribbons that are used, such as those that will be worn in the cheerleader's hair and those that are used as shoelaces. Placing rhinestones around the cuff of the socks that will be worn is another way to customize the uniform.
