How to Design Basketball Uniforms Online

Basketball uniforms identify a team at a glance. Without even seeing a logo, the NBA jerseys of the Los Angeles Lakers and the Chicago Bulls are iconic and immediately recognizable. You can design a uniform online that can be just as appealing as any NBA jersey.

  1. Go to your favorite search engine and type "design basketball uniforms" in the search box. You will find several companies that will appear on the results page. Look carefully at each site. Find a site that has uniforms and prices that you feel comfortable with.

  2. Begin to create your uniform on the uniform company's website. Although each website differs, there are several important steps that will be similar no matter what company you use. Determine what color scheme you will use. Most websites will show you colors that are complimentary to each other. You can use a pre-set color scheme or you can choose your own. Choose colors for the lettering, the edging and the jersey itself.

  3. Decide what logo you would like to apply to the jersey. Most uniform websites have an upload feature, allowing you to apply your custom logo directly to the jersey if you desire. If you do not have your own logo, most companies will have thousands of royalty-free logos for you to choose from.

  4. Choose a font for the lettering and numbering. Although it may seem interesting to choose a unique font, most leagues will require you to pick a basic font scheme that will be clearly visible to the officials, scorekeeper and fans.

  5. Type the name of each player into the website if your jerseys will display last names on the back. Also, assign each jersey a number. If you are creating jerseys for a youth league, it is best not to affix any last names to the jerseys because of the yearly turnover in youth leagues and high uniform costs.

  6. Submit your finalized jersey to the uniform company. A graphic artist will call you with any questions before production.
