How to Donate Kids' Shoes

If your children have outgrown their shoes, try donating them, instead of just throwing them away. Many families are in need of shoes for their children, but cannot afford to buy new shoes. Giving away a nice and reliable pair of shoes to a child in need not only helps another person, but it makes you feel good about yourself in the process.

  • Take the shoes to your local
Goodwill store. Goodwill stores exist throughout the country and are
a great place to take gently used items that you can no longer use.
The employees at Goodwill stores will even provide you with a
receipt that you can use for tax purposes. The great thing about
Goodwill stores is that they price all items very low so that
families can afford to buy what they want.

  • Post a flier in your child's
school. Inform the school that you have some shoes that you would
like to give away and get permission to post a flier about it. Many
schools have donation crates that include toys, books, clothing and
other items for parents to browse through and select for their
    children.

  • Get involved with the Soles4Souls
organization. Soles4Souls provides shoes to people living in
wretched poverty throughout the world. Wayne Elsey is the CEO of the
company. He founded it in 2004 after the tsunami disaster in
Southeast Asia. It is a great way to provide shoes for people in
    need.

  • Give the shoes to your church.
Most churches, of all faiths, conduct clothing drives on a regular
basis. All of the items that are provided at the drive are free to
fellow parishioners and members of the community. Like the Goodwill,
many churches will provide receipts to donors for tax purposes.
