How to Embellish Your Flip Flops for All Outfits
Flip flops, also known as thongs, are a type of footwear that is secured to the feet with a Y-shaped band that passes between the big toe and adjoining toes to secure a bottom sole. Their name comes from their movement and the sound they make when a wearer walks in them. If you think your flip flops are somewhat drab in style, you can embellish them to complement your outfit.
- Use a glue gun to attach small beads to the straps of the flip flops. You can choose to use one color only, a mixture of colors or make a pattern with the beads by applying one color at a time and allowing the glue to dry before applying the next color of beads.
- Paint the flip flop straps with glitter glue or fabric paint. You can choose to just add some sparkle or try your hand at making fun designs and patterns. If you have a steady hand, try writing something on the flip flop straps.
- Tie some pretty bows or ribbons to the flip flop straps. You can choose to use only one ribbon for a bow near the toe, or tying several ribbons along the length of the strap.
- Try tying several thin strips of felt or fuzzy yarn that has been cut into short pieces around the flip flop straps to add volume and cushion.
- Glue artificial flowers to the straps of the flip flops. Like with ribbons or bows, you can choose to add only one or several.
- Attach buttons or charms to the flip flop straps to add some accessories to your shoes and make them match your outfit.
- Fasten small rhinestones or crystals to the flip flops to add some sparkle. Look for ones with adhesive backing to make application a breeze.
