How to Draw Summer Clothes
Summer clothes are bright colored and lightweight. Summer clothes are designed to beat the summer heat while still looking fashionable and fabulous. When drawing summer clothes it is important to consider how comfortable the person will be when wearing the clothes in the sun.
- Ensure the sleeve length is appropriate for summer. Summer clothes are designed with short sleeves or no sleeves. When drawing summer clothes experiment with different types of sleeves. For example, ruffle sleeves can be short and add a different flair to the basic summer shirt.
- Draw a comfortable summer neckline. For women's fashion the summer neckline is generally low. This allows for maximum comfort without overheating. Men's necklines tend to be very basic during the summer as collars can tend to be too hot to wear in the summer heat. However, cotton collars, such as those on a polo shirt, may help provide a business fashion in the summer sun.
- Make your patterns fun and bold. Summer fashions can come in a variety of patterns. These patterns can include flowers, dots or butterflies. Patterns should invoke a general feeling of summer and warmth. Men's patterns may include Hawaiian designs or solid summer colors such as yellow and orange.
- Choose a proper length for summer garments. Summer clothes tend to be shorter than winter clothes. Pants may be cut at the knee to create capri’s or may be cut at the thigh to create shorts. Shirts may bare the belly button or shoulders to help keep the wearer cool. Men may also wear knee length shorts during the summer and forego the blazer in exchange for a cool summer t-shirt.
