How to Draw Women in Cocktail Dresses
Sometimes in life you want to think outside the box and wear something that no one else owns. You may not be a fashion designer, but you could design a cocktail dress that would turn heads. If you have a creative eye for details and fashion, then designing your own cocktail dress would be a perfect idea.
Things you would need:
- Catalogs
- Magazines
- Sketch pad
- Drawing pencil
Instructions:
Drawing the Woman
- Draw the outlining shape of the woman’s head and the torso. This can be done by drawing ovals and triangles that overlap each other. Use details to differentiate the head and torso by drawing a neck and use a small oval to make the waist.
- Create joints by drawing circles. Use long ovals for the legs. This same technique should be done for the arms, elbows, ankles, and feet.
- Erase all of the lines inside of the figure to make a simply female figure.
Drawing the Dress
- Use the outline of the chest to sketch a basic dress shape. The top of the dress should have a V-neck or a round cut. The dress could be loose around the hips and flow out to hit right above the knee.
- Erase the lines inside of the drawn dress.
- Add details to the dress such as a band at the waist, wrinkles, and even designs on the dress. This can also including facial features, hand gestures, and even hair.
- Trace the whole sketch in pen and you can erase the pencil lines when the pen is dry.
- Complete the design by adding color to the dress and the face of the drawn woman.
