How to Fill Out Priority Mail Slips

When you have a package or letter that you need to reach its destination within a few days or overnight it is a good idea to ship this letter or package via priority mail. As you may know priority mail is a service available at your local postal service.

  1. Select the package size that you need to ship your items to your friend or family member.

  2. Place the items you are shipping into the selected box. Ensure that your items lie flat inside the box and do not cause any bulges to the exterior of the package which could cause cracking and tearing. Peel off the protective paper to expose the adhesive tab. Position the tab into a closed position and press firmly to adhere the adhesive.

  3. Complete the return address information. This is your name and address. Ensure that you write this information in a manner that is easy to read. By completing this section the United States Postal Service knows where to send the package if for any reason it is returned to their office. You are not charged any additional postage should they return this package to you.

  4. Write out the full address and name for the individual in which you are shipping this package on the space labeled "Ship to." Ensure that you include the complete street address, apartment number or suite number if applicable, the city and state. Write the zip code with the extension if known.

  5. Give this package to the mail clerk and pay the required postage.
