How to Track a Priority Mail Package

How to Send Priority Mail

If you need to send a piece of priority mail you should make sure to do it properly so that your package gets to its destination on time.  Visit your local post office to get the packaging that you need and package your priority item.  Package boxes come in flat rate and pay per weight so choose the option that best fits your needs.

Things You'll Need:

  • Priority mail envelope or box

  • Packing peanuts or newspapers

  1. Pick up a priority mail envelope or box from your local post office.  These items come in a variety of shapes and sizes so make sure that you get one that fits the item you wish to send.  Choose between flat rate packaging and packaging that requires you to pay according to the weight of the package.

  2. Package your item inside of the box or envelope you have chosen.  Fill all empty space around the item by using packing peanuts or old newspapers.  This will ensure that you package does not become damaged or crushed during the shipping process.  Secure the end of the package with the self stick tape that is provided for you.

  3. Send you package by taking it to your local post office to be mailed.  Give your package to the mail attendant at the post office and pay the appropriate price for your packaging.  You will either have to pay for the weight of your package or the flat rate fee for the priority box you have chosen.  The attendant will then place the shipping sticker onto the package and place it in a bin to be sent out.  Ask for a receipt for the item you have sent and keep it in case you need to track your package.
