How to Find a Naturopathic Doctor
Naturopathy is a way of treating illnesses based on natural remedies as well as the body's ability to heal. Naturopathic doctors utilize massage, diet, exercise, acupuncture, homeopathy and minor surgery when treating patients. If you want to include this type of medicine as a part of your health care, you will first need to find the right doctor.
- Go online to the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians.
- Go to the box in the middle of the home page that says "Find A Naturopathic Doctor Near You", enter your zip code and click the "Search" button. If you prefer an advanced search, click "Find A Doctor" on the menu that runs across the top of the page. Select how you want to search by either entering the practice or doctor's name, searching by area of emphasis or searching by state or country. Make your selection in the appropriate box and then click "Search."
- Review the "Find a Doctor/AANP Directory Disclaimer" that appears in the next window. Click "Accept" if you accept the terms of the disclaimer.
- Review the search results in the next window. The information will include the name of naturopathic doctors that match your search criteria. In addition, for each doctor you may also find a brief history, areas of emphasis and contact information in the form of a phone number, website and an email address if applicable.
- Email or call the doctor of your choice after reviewing your options.
