How to Find a Used Appliance
Finding a quality used appliance can often save the buyer some money. Some sellers may offer a short-term warranty on an appliance to help protect the buyer. If an appliance does need to be fixed, the price after making the repairs may still be lower than the full retail price of a new appliance.
- Check the Yellow Pages in your phonebook to find used appliance stores in your city. Contact one of the stores to find out if they have the type of appliance you need in their current inventory. Ask what hours the store is open for the day of the week you intend to stop by.
- Look in the classified section of your newspaper for used appliances that are for sale. Call the seller to arrange a time to look at the appliance and find out the address. If you do not think you can evaluate the condition of the appliance, ask someone you trust who is mechanically inclined to go with you.
- Stop at a thrift store in your area to check for used appliances. Make an offer to buy if you find the appliance you need. If the store does not have anything in stock that interests you, leave your contact information in case an appliance becomes available in the future.
- Look online to find websites that sell used appliances. Review the inventory a website has to offer to see if the appliance you need is available. Find out the shipping charge and warranty information before you agree to make a purchase.
- Try an auction website to find used appliances. Many sellers will offer a “Buy Now” price, which you can select if you do not want to go through the bidding process. Make sure the price of the used appliance is within your budget before you place an order. Look for auction feedback on the seller to make sure they have a reputation for delivering items in the condition they promise.
