How to Fish With Hoop Nets

Some fishermen find it easier to catch fish using hoop nets, which are a group of hoops covered with nets. One end of the net is open so the fish can enter into the net and the other end is closed so they cannot get out.

Some fishermen would rather fish with the traditional pole where as other prefer to use hoop nets.

  1. Check with the game warden in your state to see if there are any laws or restrictions on where you can or cannot use hoop nets. There are several states that regulate where the nets can be used. It you place a net in a restricted area and get caught you could end up getting a hefty fine or even jail time.

  2. Put some bait of your choice in a mesh bag and attach it on the inside of the net to draw in the fish. It is recommended that it be placed near the end that is closed off.

  3. Place the net in a place where you are apt to catch the most fish, which is usually a place where the fish are swimming upstream..

  4. Attach a weight to each end of the net. You will also need to tie a rope to each end so you will have a way of retrieving the net from the water.

  5. Drop the water and sit back and wait for the fish to swim in.

  6. Use the rope to pull up the open end of the net, and then pull up the closed end.

  7. Pull the net onto the shore and remove the drawstring holding the closed end of the net together to retrieve the fish you caught.
