How to Fit Car Body Kits

Almost any type of car that exists on the road today has a body kit that can fit it. Although you have the option of taking your vehicle to a professional body shop, you save a considerable amount of money if you hire a mechanic or complete the job yourself.

  1. Research the available body kits that are compatible with your car. Make sure to read any available reviews from users who have already purchased and installed the body kits. This gives you an idea of the type of quality you can expect.

  2. Order the body kit you have settled on and wait for it to arrive at your home or business. In the meantime, remove the existing body kit from your car. Removing the kit is not a difficult project to do. Most kits are attached with some plastic pop rivets and a few screws. Carefully remove the panels so that you do not damage your vehicle in the process.

  3. Size the new kit on your vehicle. In order to do this, simply have someone help you by holding each piece against the car while you mark the location for the holes. Use a permanent marker, so that it does not accidentally wash off before installation.

  4. Trim the kit to make any necessary adjustments, if needed. Once you have trimmed the necessary spaces, sand the edges so that each piece is smooth.

  5. Bolt the pieces onto your vehicle in the same places where you marked the holes to go. These pieces must be able to easily slide into place before you attach the bolts.

  6. Finish the car by sanding the remainder of the body and painting the entire car so that the car and kit are matching.
