How to Fix a Belt Buckle

Have you ever broke the buckle on your favorite belt and were at a loss as to how to fix it? Is so hopefully you still have it somewhere stored in your closet. There is a way you can fix the buckle by using a wire hanger.

Fixing a belt buckle is something you can easily do by following a few simple steps.

  1. Remove the buckle from the belt. The buckles of most belts are normally held on by two small screws, which can be removed by using a small screwdriver. There are also some belt buckles that are held on with a snap, which you would just need to pull up on the snap to release.

  2. Remove the damaged buckle pin from the belt. You may be able to pop it off. If not, use wire cutters to cut it.

  3. Hold a sturdy wire hanger in your hand and use wire cutters to snip off the loop portion of the hanger.

  4. Put the cut off piece of the hanger where the buckle pin was previously located.

  5. Use the wire cutters or a pair of pliers to bend the hanger around the buckle.

  6. Continue to wrap the hanger around the buckle until it is secure.

  7. Use the wire cutters to cut off the remainder of the hanger if it is too long.

  8. Use a metal file to file down any sharp edges that may be on the hanger. This should be done to protect you from getting cut or stuck by the sharp edges.

  9. Place the buckle back on the belt and secure in place.
