How to Get Financial Aid From the University of Phoenix

The University of Phoenix is an accredited institution of higher and distance learning.  Financial aid is a federal government program that provides funding to pay for attending college. If you want to be eligible for financial aid, then you will have to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA.

1. Go to the FAFSA website. Submit an application for financial aid by clicking the “Start Here” button in the middle of the page. The application will ask for parents and student’s financial information. Collect all financial documents before proceeding with the application. The application will require a signature, before submitting it online. It can be signed with a financial aid pin, which is required before submitting the application. The process for signing up for the pin is easy and you can receive it through email. Not having all of the information to complete the FAFSA can lead to delaying the application.


2. Follow the prompts on each page. The form asks a variety of question about your education and financial background.  Submit an answer for each question, before proceeding to the next page. 


3. Put the school code in for the University of Phoenix. At the end of the application, there is a section for sending the information to certain schools. The school code for the University of Phoenix is necessary for this section which is “014593”. Click “Submit” to submit the application when finished. Students can contact the financial aid office or wait for them to send a letter. Students who fulfilled all of the requirements for financial aid will receive a reward letter. If not, a request letter asking for additional financial information will be sent before being eligible for aid.

Also, contact the financial aid office about the Smart Grant. The purpose of the grant was to encourage more students to take challenging courses in high school. The grant program wants to encourage more people to pursue careers in math, science, computers and foreign languages. If you are interesting in applying for the grant, then submit a FAFSA application and talk with a financial aid officer.
