How to Get Points Removed from your License
It's an unfortunate fact that thousands of people get points put on their driver's license every year. Regardless of the reason, it can sometimes take years to have these points removed and have a good driving record once again. Depending upon the circumstance, there are some things that can be done to get those points removed more quickly.
Attend Driving School
Enrolling in a driver's education course can be a good way to get up to 4 points removed from your license. If you have 7 points on your record, you may also be required to attend a driving improvement class that can remove 3 points off your license. Normally drivers are only given this option once every five years.
Take the Written Test
Some states will allow drivers to take the written driving test again to remove points. Passing this test can help you have two points removed from your license. Check with your local DMV to find out if your state offers this option.
Keep a Clean Driving Record
This option takes at least 1 year, but it can be very beneficial. If you drive carefully and follow all rules for a full year after getting the points, you can have 3 points removed from your record. This may also benefit you with your auto insurance company as well. If your premium cost was raised when you first got the points on your license, they could be decreased after a clean driving record for 1 year.
