How to Get Utensil Marks Off of White Dinnerware

White dinnerware can easily obtain marks from metal deposits from plates or frequent use. These marks can make the utensils look dirty and look unusable. There is not need to toss them when the marks can be removed so they dinnerware can be used again.

Materials Needed

  • Sheet

  • Large bowl

  • Baking soda

  • Warm water

  • Spoon

  • Cloths

  • Commercial cleaner

  1. Lay the dinnerware out on a flat surface so you can clean it. Place a sheet under all of the dinnerware to protect the surface underneath.

  2. Place a large bowl on the counter. Pour enough baking soda and warm water into the bowl to clean all of the dinnerware. The mixture should be half baking soda and half warm water.

  3. Stir the two ingredients together with a spoon to form a paste. The paste will have enough grit in it to remove the utensil marks from the white dinnerware.

  4. Wet a dry cloth with water and squeeze it out until it is damp. Use the damp cloth and paste to clean all of the white dinnerware. Make sure you reach all areas of the dinnerware and use circular motions with a little pressure.

  5. Rinse all of the dinnerware with clean water. Remove all of the paste from the white dinnerware as possible.

  6. Use a dry cloth to dry the dinnerware. Allow the dinnerware to dry further before storing it away.

  7. If the plates have stains, use a commercial cleaner on them. The cleaner will be enough to remove the stains but make sure to follow the instructions on the package. Rinse the plates and dry them with a cloth.
